Welcome to AMP Lab
Every production model in our catalog began as an idea—something we simply had to try.
Turning each idea into a finished mouthpiece required a great deal of preparation. For a production model, that investment paid for itself. For a one-off custom design, it often didn't.
We started wondering if we could automate everything that stood between an idea and a finished mouthpiece. Along the way, we realized we could also create an interface that put creative control directly into the hands of the horn player.
Behind the scenes, AMP Lab translates your design directly into manufacturing-ready machine instructions, allowing us to build it with the same care and precision as every Alpine Mouthpiece.

Before you begin
What is AMP Lab?
AMP Lab puts you in direct control of the mouthpiece design process. Every change updates the profile in real time, allowing you to see exactly how your design evolves.
You aren't choosing between mouthpieces—you are shaping one.
Why did you build this?
Mouthpiece catalogs naturally grow over time. Eventually, they become difficult for players to navigate and difficult for manufacturers to support.
With the introduction of AMP Lab, our curated catalog becomes a collection of proven starting points rather than the limits of what's possible.
Can I really order whatever I create here?
Yes. The configurator is built around the capabilities of our manufacturing process, so every design it allows can be manufactured.
Within those boundaries lies an enormous range of possibilities. Whether you make small refinements to a favorite mouthpiece or head into uncharted territory is entirely up to you.
What actually goes on behind the scenes?
The configurator produces a file that's automatically translated into ready-to-run CNC lathe code. While it wasn't easy to get to this point, that's now the easy part.
Our tolerances are the tightest in the industry. Every mouthpiece is individually measured, and adjustments are made as needed to ensure it meets our standards. Automation doesn't replace craftsmanship—it gives us more time to focus on it.
Does submitting a design place an order?
Not quite. Submitting your design saves the configuration and your contact information.
To begin manufacturing, you must also purchase a Custom model through the Alpine Mouthpieces webstore. We'll match your design to your order before production begins.
Can I return a custom mouthpiece?
Because every custom mouthpiece is manufactured specifically for its customer, custom designs cannot be returned simply because you change your mind or dislike the result.
Of course, if we make a manufacturing mistake, we'll make it right.
How long will it take?
Every custom mouthpiece is individually machined to order in Switzerland.
To keep international shipping practical and affordable, mouthpieces are produced and shipped in batches. Please allow up to eight weeks for manufacturing and delivery.
Can you add my favorite mouthpiece as a reference overlay?
Quite possibly. Every overlay begins with a physical mouthpiece that we measure and process into a reference profile. If there's enough interest—or you can provide a sample—we'd be happy to consider adding it.
Can I engrave anything I want?
We trust your judgment. If your mother would raise an eyebrow, there's a fair chance we will too. If that happens, we'll simply ask you to choose something else.
